RCRA Hazardous Waste Management Training

The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) requires anyone who works around hazardous wastes to complete a training course in compliance with standard 40 CFR. Any individual who manages, handles, or labels hazardous waste materials should complete this training course.

RCRA standards on hazardous waste and used oil can be found in 40 CFR parts 260-268, 273, and 279

CEU Requirements 

  1. 100% attendance for the RCRA Hazardous waste management training
  2. Completion of Continuing Education and Training Registration Form
  3. Active participation in all class exercises (determined by course instructor)
  4. Completion of required pre-and post-quiz assessment
  5. As applicable, achievement of minimum passing score on required end-of-course examination
  6. Participation and submittal of end-of-course evaluation form (must provide name on form to receive credit)

 

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this RCRA waste management course, the student will be able to:

  • Understand which wastes are classified as hazardous
  • Manage hazardous waste and materials in accordance with EPA regulations
  • Operate satellite accumulation points and accumalation points
  • Explain EPA's rules for contaminated shop towels and hazardous secondary materials
  • Understand how to meet EPA and DOT requirements for hazardous waste containers
  • Perform proper labeling of containers
  • Understand how to properly store and manage universal waste, used oil, and other special waste
